How we make money
LeftHanded.io earns revenue through affiliate commissions. When you click a product link on this site and buy something, the retailer pays us a small percentage at no extra cost to you. That's how the lights stay on.
This is the only revenue model we use. We don't sell ads, we don't take sponsorships, and we don't run paid placements dressed up as editorial.
Amazon Associates Program
LeftHanded.io is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Our Amazon Associates tag is lefthanded-io-20.
Most product links on this site go through a redirect at /go/<slug>. Those redirects forward you to Amazon with our affiliate tag attached. You'll see the destination URL in the address bar after the redirect resolves.
How we pick products
The short version: we recommend things we'd buy ourselves or recommend to a friend. Affiliate commission is not a tiebreaker.
We've recommended lower-commission products over higher-commission alternatives because the lower-commission product was simply better. We've also written negative things about products that would have earned us money if we'd softened the review. That's the only way the recommendations stay useful.
If a product link ever stops working, the product is discontinued, or you find a better deal somewhere else, let us know.
Other affiliate programs
From time to time we link to retailers other than Amazon — direct manufacturer sites, specialty lefty shops, or other affiliate networks. The same standards apply: the link is there because the product is worth your time, not because it pays us most.
What we don't do
- We don't display Amazon prices on the site. Amazon's Operating Agreement requires Product Advertising API access to display prices, and we don't currently use the API.
- We don't run undisclosed sponsored content. If we ever do partner with a brand on something specific, that piece will be clearly labeled.
- We don't use cookie stuffing, pop-up traps, or any of the other dark patterns that make affiliate marketing a bad word.
